Andrew Lazarow, Runner
Over the past few years Andrew has watched the New York City Marathon, as a spectator, in awe of the amazing efforts of the runners. Their ability to complete 26.2 miles alone is noteworthy, but the different causes represented, the people honored, the immeasurable support of family, friends and strangers is what has always made the New York City Marathon so memorable to him. This year Andrewâs decided to take the leap over the barriers and run the New York City Marathon himself, in support of SCOPEâa cause that is deeply personal to Andrew and his family.Â
SCOPE (Summer Camp Opportunities Promote Education) is a national nonprofit funder of overnight summer camp and college scholarships, creating pathways to potential through Camp, Classroom, College, and Career for children and teens from under-resourced communities who commit to staying in school. When you level the playing ground of possibility, you give all children new pathways to potential.Â
For Andrew, camp isnât just something he supportsâitâs shaped his entire life. Andrew grew up going to Timber Lake West as both a camper and later a staff member. Camp played a huge role in forming who he isâhis personality, his values, and even the family and life he has built. Andrew met his wife at camp. His four-year-old daughter is already entering her fifth summer at camp and this year heâs excited to introduce his second daughter to the magic as well.Â
Upon graduating from college, Andrew stepped away from the camp world for a few years pursuing an accounting career. Though in keeping with the SCOPE mantra, his path ultimately led him back. Andrew is now lucky enough to be able to combine his love for business, finance, and camp as the CFO of the Timber Lake Family of Camps and Inns.Â
Thatâs why this matters so much to him. Andrewâs seen firsthand how powerful a summer experience can be. It builds confidence, independence, friendships, and sense of belonging. Running 26.2 miles is a challenge, but itâs one he’s proud to take on to help give more kids access to something that has given him so much.Â
Boo Fox, Runner
The past few years, camp has been an integral part of Boo’s life – from working with kids at Camp IHC to helping create similar experiences for adults through Allaway Events. Sheâs always been drawn to environments that bring people together, build connection, and create lasting experiences.Â
Thatâs why Boo is running the NYC Marathon for Team SCOPE. She’s supporting a cause that opens real opportunities for children who need them most. Boo truly believes every child deserves the gift of camp – the chance to feel included, to grow in a supportive environment, and to experience the joy, confidence, and community that come with it. She wants to help more kids have access to those kinds of experiences.Â
Every mile is about helping break down barriers and giving more young people the chance to grow, thrive, and reach their full potential!Â
Erin O’Connell, Runner
Erin grew up in Connecticut and found her way to Upstate New York through camp. Her journey began in 2009 as a camper at YMCA Camp Chingachgook on Lake George, a longtime SCOPE partner camp, and she just kept going back. Over 17 years at Chingachgook, Erin grew from camper to staff member, eventually joining the full-time team and serving as Summer Program Director. Camp is where she found her confidence, her community, and ultimately her calling to work with kids. That calling followed her into the classroom, where she went on to earn a Master’s in Elementary Education. Today, she’s teaching within the Capital Region and is still closely connected to the place that changed her life.Â
What makes Erin’s connection to SCOPE especially meaningful is that she lived the mission from the inside. In her time at Chingachgook she worked directly with SCOPE, helping provide camperships for the families who needed them and seeing firsthand what it meant for a kid to get the chance to experience summer camp.Â
Running has been part of Ern’s life since her dad first got her out to road races as a kid. When she ran the NYC Half, he was on the sidelines cheering her on, and it was that race that made her realize just how badly she wanted to do the full. She cannot wait for him to watch her cross the finish line of her first marathon, and to do it for SCOPE makes it that much more meaningful.Â
Fabiola BĂĄez GarcĂa, Runner
Fabiola started running about 2.5 years ago alongside her brother-in-law, around the same time her nephew was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. What began as a personal challenge quickly became something she truly fell in love with, leading her to complete two half marathons so far.Â
For the past 8 years, Fabiola has worked at Camp Mah-Kee-Nac and has seen firsthand the incredible impact camp can have on children: building confidence, creating lifelong friendships, and helping kids discover new parts of themselves. Thatâs why raising money for SCOPE through the NYC Marathon feels so meaningful to her. Fabiola is grateful for the opportunity to help give more children the chance to experience the magic of camp, and excited to play even a small part in making that happen.Â
Foster Hoch, Runner
Over the past year, Foster lost more than 110 pounds through running. What started as a personal health journey became something that completely transformed his life. And now, he’s ready to use that momentum for something bigger than himself.Â
That’s why Foster is running the 2026 New York City Marathon with SCOPE (Summer Camp Opportunities Promote Education). As a national nonprofit, SCOPE funds overnight summer camp scholarships, known as “camperships,” and college scholarships for children and teens from under-resourced communities who commit to staying in school. Children from low-income households are three times less likely to have access to the social, emotional, and character-building benefits of summer camp, and SCOPE exists to close that gap.Â
Camp has always been close to Fosterâs heart after he was a group leader and Color War General at Timber Lake Camp and saw firsthand how impactful a camp environment can be. How the lessons on the court and the field don’t just build athletes, they build students and leaders. Every child deserves that experience, and SCOPE makes it possible.Â
Foster knows what it feels like to believe something is out of reach â and then prove yourself wrong. The kids SCOPE serves deserve that same feeling. Every step he takes on race day is for them. Â
Jamie Feinman, Runner
Growing up, Jamie spent summer after summer at Tyler Hill Camp, where she discovered her love for working with children and developed the passion that ultimately led her to become a school social worker. Jamie first became involved in SCOPE as Division Leader for the oldest girls at Tyler Hill and continues to be inspired by the organizationâs incredible mission and impact.Â
Running her first marathon in support of SCOPE brings together two of Jamieâs greatest passions: camp and running. Having already completed multiple half marathons, this race marks an exciting personal milestone as her first full marathon, made even more meaningful by the opportunity to raise money for a cause that means so much to her. Â
Mark Tjaden, Runner
Mark has been running đââïž since he started following his pops around the block during his run workouts. Being at Camp IHC, Mark continues to share the joy of running and so much more. It’s an honor for Mark to represent SCOPE once again, in hopes to draw more attention and funds to get young adults and kids outdoors, especially at camp.   Â
Tom Coffey, Team Captain
Originally from the UK, Thomas (âTomâ) has called New York and Long Island home for the past 14 years, serving as the Director of Southampton Camp & Club in Southampton, NY. What began as a summer adventure in 2006 as a seasonal camp counselor quickly turned into a lifelong passion, with Tom returning to the U.S. every summer for seven consecutive years before eventually making the move permanent.  Today, Tom lives on Long Island with his wife, whom he met at camp, and their two children, Philippa (âPippaâ), 9, and Francis (âFrankieâ), 6. Â
Tom is thrilled to join Team SCOPE as Team Captain this year, working alongside Team SCOPE Coach, Ali Wortman, to help ensure every runner feels confident, supported, and prepared for race day.Â
After fundraising for SCOPE while running the NYC Marathon in November 2024, Tom quickly caught the marathon bug. What started as a fun way to spend his birthday – running the NYC Marathon on his actual birthday – quickly evolved into a series of personal goals aimed to challenge and push himself further while giving back as he approaches the big 4-0 in 2026.  Â
Since then, Tom has gone on to complete the L.A. Marathon in 2025 and will also be running the Chicago Marathon on October 11, 2026 (once again fundraising for SCOPE), just three weeks before returning to New York City for the NYC Marathon. By the finish line in NYC, Tom will have completed four marathons in under two years.Â
Tom is proud to continue supporting SCOPE while helping all of Team SCOPE cross that finish line.Â
Whitney Dosik
Whitney Dosik is honored to be running in her 7th NYC Marathon for such a wonderful cause. Born and raised in NYC, this Marathon is close to her heart. It will be Whitneyâs 17th Marathon altogether as she has run Boston and Chicago. Â
When sheâs not training for marathons, Whitney enjoys exploring different cities and discovering new restaurants and coffee shops. She loves traveling, attending concerts, and seeing Broadway shows. Whitney also enjoys exploring her own city and taking photos.Â
Whitney is lucky to have attended Camp Hillard and Camp Ramaquois day camps, as well as Kenwood/KenMont sleepaway camp. Going away to camp for eight weeks at a young age was difficult since she is very close with her parents, but sheâs grateful they encouraged her to go. Whitney made lifelong friends she still keeps in touch with and often runs into around NYC. During her four years at sleepaway camp, she had the pleasure of meeting Molly, who was friends with one of her big sisters at camp. When Whitney later learned that Molly was the Executive Director of SCOPE and discovered the organizationâs mission, she knew she wanted to get involved. Whitney is excited and honored to be running the 2026 NYC Marathon for such a meaningful cause.Â
