My best friends are still the ones that I made as a camper. They were the groomsmen in my wedding and continue to be among the closest people to me.
The memories I made along the way – I still laugh when I think back to the fun times I had as a camper and counselor at camp. My friends and I still laugh and love to tell and re-tell the stories that defined our summers together.
FINDING YOUR SOULMATE
Meeting my wife at camp – What can I say? I met Wendy at camp and nothing can be better than finding your soulmate at camp?
Make friends and make friends that they wouldn’t have met or known if not for camp.
Feel like they’re part of a warm and inclusive environment – Nothing feels better than being part of something and feeling connected. I hope that all SCOPE campers get to experience how that feels – and that they understand how special that feeling is.
TRY NEW THINGS
Try things they don’t have the chance to at home – Camp is the place to try new things and test one’s abilities and challenge one’s fears.
The camp environment fosters self-confidence and self-esteem which every human being needs to be successful. I know how my own years as a camper and counselor shaped me as a person and I can’t imagine not having had camp in my life.
The relationships formed at camp are ones that last a lifetime and crossover with people of all ages and genders. Camp is the place to build relationships across all of those lines.
Camp allows one to be their best self.
